about

[2013] Solo Electric Guitar...it is an open tuning, that's for sure. I just forget which one. If you go onto my Soundcloud, there is a playlist somewhere in there called Alternate Tunings, I believe. There are a lot of tracks. I picked out this one as one of my favorites...a bit lengthy, but, I still opted for it, this time. Playing with the alternate tunings allowed me to seek out sounds and textures I wanted without thinking as much about the fingerings, which caused me to employ many different ones. Whenever I go back to standard tuning, I find that I can play with more confidence and feeling, given I sort of know where the notes are in standard! I don't really suggest tuning any of the strings as far from the norm as I did, because I'll need to someday get a few guitars in for servicing...I guess one-and-a-half steps even is pushing it, with some strings. I love Joni Mitchell, so, it's her fault!
*Also, I had a huge preference for overdrive on the guitar parts. I might have overdone it with the distortion, but...too late. Still, I was coming of age during the grunge era, so, there's that.
